My broker

My broker setup. Step by step.

People ask me every day which broker I use. This is the one I trade my own account on, and the order to set yours up in if you decide to open one.

Read this first. The buttons on this page that open a broker's or prop firm's site are partner links. If you sign up or trade through them, Market Masters Academy (Market Master Technologies LLC) may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.

  • Check for yourself whether this broker is regulated where you live, and whether it accepts clients there, before you open an account. Rules and protections differ from country to country.
  • You don't need a live account to learn. A demo (practice) account is enough for the whole free course.
  • Leveraged trading can lose more than a beginner expects, and it can happen fast. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
  • You never need this broker, or any partner, for the course or the Live Room.

How to set yours up

Do these in order. Money only goes in at the funding step, so don't jump ahead to it.

  1. Open the account through my link

The button is under these steps. Read them all first: it takes two minutes. Use your real name and details, because the next step checks them.

  2. Verify your identity

Expect to be asked for a photo ID and proof of your address. Brokers ask for this as a routine check, so have both ready.

  3. Choose MT5 (or MT4) as your platform

MT5 and MT4 are the MetaTrader apps you place your trades in. If you have no preference, choose MT5. The Setup chapter of the free course has a MetaTrader walkthrough.

  4. Start on a demo account

A demo (practice) account is the same market with pretend money. Place the practice trades from the free course there first. If you can't see how to open one, ask the broker's support before you put any money in.

  5. Only then fund it, and only with money you can afford to lose

There is no rush. Read the broker's own pages on fees, leverage and withdrawals before any money goes in, and start smaller than you think you should. Never use rent money, borrowed money or savings you need.

  6. Size every trade before you click buy or sell

Use the free position size calculator: pick your market, enter your account, your risk and your stop, and it tells you how many lots to trade. Round down, never up.

  7. Keep your risk per trade small

The free course teaches 1% of your account or less on any one trade. At 1%, ten losing trades in a row still leave about 90% of the account.

Read the steps? Here’s the link.

It opens my broker's site in a new tab. Start at the first step, and stay on the demo account until you've placed the practice trades.
